George and Amal Clooney have announced they have become the proud parents of twins.
The power couple welcomed one boy and one girl, Ella and Alexander Clooney, into their lives on June 6.
"Ella, Alexander, and Amal are all healthy, happy, and doing fine," says publicist Stan Rosenfield.
News of the birth triggered various comments on social media, with many fans complimenting the couple's choice of classic names for their twins.
American talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres sent a congratulatory greeting for the to the new parents, saying, "I'm now calling you Ocean's Four."
Prior to her marriage to Clooney, Amal Alamuddin, 39, was a human-rights attorney specializing in international law.
The Lebanese-British lawyer has defended the cause of young Yazidi women who were abused by fighters of the Islamic State jihadist group, and Al-Jazeera reporter Mohamed Fahmy after he was jailed in Egypt. She has also represented clients such as former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko and Australian Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
Oscar-winner Clooney, 56, met his future wife in Italy in 2013 through a mutual friend. It reportedly took months before she agreed to a date with Hollywood's hottest bachelor. Clooney popped the question six months after their first date.
The couple wed in 2014 in a Venice ceremony attended by A-listers and closely covered by media outlets from around the globe.
