Roma Keeps Totti A Little While Longer

Roma is the next stop for this Roman.  Francesco Totti, the 40-year-old soccer star who played striker for 24 years with Giallorossi, finished his career on the pitch in May.  He has been laying low mulling over several offers since.

"The end of my playing career was May 28, 2017. That for me was a historic day," otti said "I'll carry it with me forever. It will be hard to explain to people the feelings and emotions I felt that day."

During an interview published on the Roma website, Totti explained his playing days are certainly. And he confirmed that has accepted a directorship role with Roma.

"The first part of my life, as a player, has ended but now I'm heading into an equally important part as a manager, hoping to do as well as I did on the field." said Roma's all-time leading scorer. "I never wanted that game to end, that day to end. For me, it was too important, too significant, too exciting.”

There were reports that Totti might be coming back to the pitch, playing in Major League Soccer or for a club in China, but he says those rumors are false.

In 1993 a 16-year-old Totti made his professional debut and went on to play 786 games. He finished his great career with a 3-decision over Genoa at the Olimpico.

"The game has given me so much, and I tried to give so much back to the people who have showed me so much love day after day," Totti says. "Now I'll try to make myself available at all 360 degrees, from the youth team to the president. It might take six months, a year, two years...I don't know how long it will take to find the role I prefer."
