The large LGBTQ-themed Ascension Party that has previously beenheld at Fire Island Pines on Long Island and Mykonos in Greece is scheduled to take place at New Jersey's Asbury Park in August 2017.

Organizers expect attendees from around the globe to party in the town Asbury Park and on the beach for the LGBTQ fest’s 14 deejays playing at 11 parties August 4 to 6.

According to the organizers, Ascension Party will be based at the Asbury Hotel on Kingsley Avenue, two blocks from the beach. The Saturday celebration party will happen at the renovated Asbury Lanes, adjacent to the hotel.

For the past two years the fest was staged at Mykonos.

Eric von Kuersteiner, who launched  the Ascension Party on Fire Island in 2006 said: “We are thrilled to bring Ascension back to the states this year...Ascension is going to bring thousands of visitors from all over the tri-state area as well as the world to Asbury. It will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the local businesses to thousands of new visitors.”

The Ascension Party press release indicates that Ascension is a charity event and 100 percent of proceeds raised in 2017 will be donated to Asbury Park LGBT charities.
