Ukraine's ArmSpetsTechnology Unveils BRDM-2M Unmanned Armored Vehicle for Remote-Controlled Frontline Resupply and Combat Missions
Ukrainian defense technology company ArmSpetsTechnology has unveiled a heavily modernized BRDM-2M armored vehicle converted into a remote-controlled unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). Designed for frontline logistics and combat operations, the platform features 360-degree cameras and a remote weapon station. The base modernization package costs up to UAH 4 million (approximately USD 96,000).

Highlights
- ArmSpetsTechnology has converted the BRDM-2M into a remote-controlled UGV capable of frontline resupply and combat operations without crew exposure.
- The base modernization package costs up to UAH 4 million (USD 96,000), with an optional remote weapon station module adding up to UAH 3 million (USD 72,000).
- The vehicle features a 360-degree camera system, APS mounting points, anti-drone cages, and a 12.7 mm remote weapon station with day/night optics.
- Ukraine's large inventory of stored BRDM-series vehicles means hundreds of units could be converted and redeployed under this program.
Ukrainian defense technology company ArmSpetsTechnology has unveiled a heavily modernized BRDM-2M armored vehicle, converting it into a remote-controlled unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) purpose-built for frontline logistics and combat operations.
Concept: Reducing Personnel Risk Through Unmanned Resupply
According to the company, the vehicle is primarily designed as an unmanned logistics platform capable of delivering ammunition, water, equipment, and other supplies to areas close to the contact line — without requiring personnel to be exposed to hostile environments. Operators can drive the vehicle manually to a designated area before switching to remote-control mode, using a compact control unit paired with a 360-degree panoramic camera system.
Modernization Upgrades
The conversion package includes a range of significant upgrades:
- Powertrain: New engine, transmission, and redesigned drivetrain
- Active Protection: Pre-fitted mounting points for an Active Protection System (APS) capable of countering drone threats
- Passive Protection: Optional add-ons including anti-drone cages, protective netting, anti-fragmentation liners, and additional anti-mine armor
- Remote Weapon Station (RWS): A remotely operated combat module capable of mounting a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, equipped with day/night observation systems and remote weapons control
Cost Estimates and Deployment Potential
ArmSpetsTechnology estimates that the basic modernization package costs up to UAH 4 million (approximately USD 96,000), with an optional combat module adding up to UAH 3 million (approximately USD 72,000) more.
The company notes that Ukraine holds a large number of active or stored BRDM-series vehicles, and through this conversion program, hundreds of units could potentially be returned to service — significantly enhancing frontline combat and logistics capabilities.
