Skyports, UI Helicopter, and BETA Technologies Partner to Advance Advanced Air Mobility in South Korea
Skyports Infrastructure, UI Helicopter Co., Ltd., and BETA Technologies have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish electric air taxi services in South Korea, in support of the government's goal to launch commercial Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) operations by 2029. UI Helicopter plans to procure up to 20 BETA aircraft, with first deliveries targeted for 2029. Jeju Island is set to become the first vertiport network in the country.

Highlights
- Skyports Infrastructure, UI Helicopter, and BETA Technologies signed an MoU to establish electric air taxi services in South Korea in support of the government's 2029 AAM commercialization target.
- UI Helicopter committed to procuring up to 20 BETA ALIA aircraft (A250 VTOL and/or CX300 CTOL), with first deliveries planned for 2029.
- Jeju Island will serve as South Korea's first vertiport network, based on a framework established between Skyports and the Jeju Provincial Government in 2025.
- BETA Technologies brings experience from operating 123 electric aviation charging stations across the United States and Canada, with its interoperable rapid-charging system to be deployed in South Korea.
- Skyports will lead vertiport site identification, infrastructure planning, and rapid-charging deployment to support UI Helicopter's future fleet operations.
Skyports, UI Helicopter, and BETA Technologies Join Forces for South Korea's AAM Market
Skyports Infrastructure, South Korean independent helicopter operator UI Helicopter Co., Ltd., and electric aviation company BETA Technologies have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly establish electric air taxi services in South Korea. The partnership is designed to support the South Korean government's policy goal of launching commercial Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) operations by 2029.
UI Helicopter to Procure Up to 20 BETA Aircraft
Under the terms of the MoU, UI Helicopter has agreed to procure up to 20 BETA aircraft — either the ALIA vertical take-off and landing variant (A250) and/or the ALIA conventional take-off and landing variant (CX300) — with first deliveries targeted for 2029. UI Helicopter is an independent helicopter operator and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) service provider based in South Korea.
Skyports to Lead Vertiport Infrastructure Planning
Within the partnership framework, Skyports will continue to play a central role in developing the AAM network. According to Skyports: "In the future AAM network, Skyports will continue to lead the identification and evaluation of potential vertiport sites, infrastructure planning and development, and support for site validation."
Skyports has already laid the groundwork for a vertiport network on Jeju Island — a plan initially announced in 2025 in collaboration with the Jeju Provincial Government — which is expected to serve as the first operational network under this three-way partnership in South Korea.
Skyports will also coordinate the planning and deployment of rapid-charging infrastructure, including the integration of BETA's fast-charging equipment to support UI Helicopter's future fleet operations.
BETA Technologies Brings North American Charging Network Experience
In addition to developing its own aircraft, BETA Technologies has built one of the largest electric aviation charging networks in the industry, with 123 charging stations currently operational across the United States and Canada. BETA's interoperable rapid-charging system is designed to serve electric aircraft from multiple manufacturers, and will serve as the backbone of Skyports' charging infrastructure deployment in South Korea to support the UI Helicopter fleet.
This three-way partnership marks a significant step forward in South Korea's commercialization of AAM, and reflects strong confidence from international capital and technology partners in the potential of the South Korean market.
