According to Reuters, Moldova has begun consultations on building domestic interceptor drone production capabilities and is actively exploring the possibility of acquiring relevant technology and expertise from Ukraine.
Airspace Security Threats Drive the Decision
Moldovan President Maia Sandu formally announced the initiative amid a growing number of drone incursions into the country's airspace. Sandu stated that Moldova aims to simultaneously strengthen its electronic warfare capabilities and drone systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles capable of detecting, tracking, intercepting, and countering hostile drones.
