JD Logistics Deploys Emergency Drones to Guangxi Disaster Zones for Supply Delivery and Aerial Survey
JD Logistics has dispatched multiple emergency drones to flood-stricken areas of Guangxi, China, following severe rainfall triggered by Typhoon Maysak. Operating at 60 metres altitude, the drones are conducting aerial surveys, mapping evacuation routes, assessing road and structural damage, and delivering tens of kilograms of relief supplies to affected communities in Guiping, Guigang, and Hengzhou.

Highlights
- JD Logistics deployed multiple emergency drones to Guangxi on July 12 in response to flooding caused by Typhoon Maysak, targeting Guiping, Guigang, and Hengzhou.
- The drones fly at 60 metres altitude to conduct aerial surveys, map safe evacuation routes, and identify road and structural damage.
- Each drone can carry tens of kilograms of relief supplies, including medicines, disinfectants, protective suits, and antivenom.
- JD launched China's largest rural drone delivery network in Zizhong, Sichuan in June 2025, covering 78 villages and 55,000 residents with delivery times as fast as seven minutes.
- Other major Chinese companies including Alibaba, NetEase, and NIO have also committed resources to Guangxi disaster relief efforts.
Typhoon Maysak has brought relentless heavy rainfall to Guangxi, triggering widespread flooding and catastrophic rainstorms across multiple counties. In response, JD Logistics announced on July 12 that it has mobilised a fleet of emergency drones, deploying them in batches to the disaster-affected areas of Guiping, Guigang, and Hengzhou to support relief operations.
Drones Ascend to 60 Metres for Comprehensive Aerial Survey
In the affected zones, drones are flying at an altitude of 60 metres, using onboard equipment to capture real-time imagery and terrain data. Ground crews are using the aerial footage to identify safe passage routes, plan villager evacuation paths, and pinpoint locations of damaged roads and buildings. The data collected is also providing accurate reference information for post-disaster recovery operations, including silt removal, structural inspection, and logistics staging.
Multi-Scenario Deployment, Carrying Tens of Kilograms of Relief Supplies
JD Logistics' emergency drones are being deployed across the following operational scenarios:
- Relief supply transportation
- Rescue route planning
- Evacuation guidance
- Road damage assessment
- Landslide hazard survey
- Flood extent monitoring and documentation
Each drone is capable of carrying tens of kilograms of relief supplies, including protective suits, disinfectants, first-aid and general medicines, antivenom for snakebites, rescue ropes, torches, spare batteries, masks, and gloves — numbering dozens of item types in total. During the post-disaster recovery phase, the drones will continue to deliver protective equipment and support epidemic-prevention disinfection efforts.
JD Built China's Largest Drone Village Delivery Network in June
Notably, JD had already established what is currently China's largest drone delivery network covering rural villages in Zizhong, Sichuan Province, as recently as June this year. The network spans 78 administrative villages and serves approximately 55,000 residents. Drones launch from township-level distribution hubs and can traverse mountainous terrain to complete deliveries in as little as seven minutes, demonstrating the strong logistical potential of drone delivery in remote areas.
Typhoon Maysak has caused significant damage across Guangxi. In addition to JD Logistics, companies including Alibaba, NetEase, and NIO have also announced contributions of resources to support disaster relief efforts.
