Eurosatory 2026: French Armed Forces Procure Origin Robotics BLAZE Counter-Drone Interceptor System
Latvian autonomous weapons systems developer Origin Robotics and French defence technology integrator DSV have jointly announced that the French Armed Forces will officially procure the BLAZE autonomous interceptor drone system. The contract was publicly confirmed during the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition in Paris, following a competitive evaluation process conducted by France's defence procurement agency, the Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA).
DGA Selects BLAZE Following Rigorous Evaluation
In a joint statement, the two companies said: "Over the past several months, the DGA conducted rigorous testing of multiple vendors and ultimately selected BLAZE as France's preferred interceptor drone. The evaluation assessed overall system performance against French Armed Forces operational requirements, including counter-drone combat effectiveness and force protection scenarios."
Local Production to Advance Technological Sovereignty
Under the terms of the contract, DSV will supply BLAZE systems to the French Armed Forces while collaborating with Origin Robotics to establish local assembly and manufacturing capacity on French soil. This forms part of a broader technology transfer programme aimed at strengthening France's industrial and technological sovereignty in the counter-drone domain, with the goal of developing a domestic supply chain under a "Made in France" label.
First Deliveries to Begin Within Weeks
The first batch of systems is expected to be delivered within weeks, with accompanying operator training to begin in parallel. Origin Robotics and DSV will continue to advance their industrial partnership and progressively build out local manufacturing capability over the coming months.
The BLAZE system holds NATO stock number (NSN) certification and is already operationally deployed in Latvia, Belgium, and Estonia. France's procurement makes it the fourth European nation to operate the system.
