GAC's Govy AirCab Rolls Off Production Line; Company Targets 2027 Production Certificate
According to a report by carnewschina.com, the Govy AirCab — the flagship eVTOL product of GAC Group subsidiary GAC Govy — has officially rolled off the production line in May 2026, following the model's presale launch in 2025. The company plans to complete airworthiness verification and obtain a Type Certificate (TC) before the end of this year, with a Production Certificate (PC) expected in the first half of 2027.
Production Ramp-Up to Be Slower Than Traditional Automotive
Govy founder and CEO Su Qingpeng acknowledged the challenges ahead in a recent interview: "I believe the delivery ramp-up for flying cars will be slower than for conventional automobiles, because flying cars require extensive iterative testing, continuous airworthiness certification, and complex manufacturing process validation."
To address these challenges, Govy is placing a strong emphasis on modular and standardized production processes to ensure the company is positioned for future large-scale manufacturing and automation.
2027 Designated as the First Year of Commercial Passenger eVTOL Operations
Su Qingpeng has described 2027 as the "first year" of commercialized passenger eVTOL operations. This timeline aligns with growing investment from Chinese state-owned capital into the low-altitude economy sector, which industry observers regard as a critical foundation for the industry's development.
As China continues to advance its low-altitude economy policies, multiple eVTOL companies are accelerating their airworthiness certification efforts and mass-production preparations. The rollout of the production-spec Govy AirCab marks a significant milestone for GAC Group in the urban air mobility space and adds fresh momentum to China's broader eVTOL commercialization push.
