ILA Berlin Air Show: Ukrainian Counter-Drone Firm SkyFall Signs Strategic MoU with Airbus
Airbus Defence and Space and Ukrainian defence-technology company SkyFall have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), launching a strategic partnership. The signing ceremony took place at ILA Berlin Air Show and was witnessed by German Federal Defence Minister Boris Pistorius.
SkyFall operates on a rapid-prototyping-to-mass-production model, delivering advanced drone systems for combat missions, logistics support, and military reconnaissance — backed by extensive battlefield-validated experience.
Strengthening Europe's Air Defence Ecosystem
In a statement, Airbus described the partnership as one that "will strengthen Ukraine's ability to defend against drone and missile attacks, and reinforce Ukraine's position as a leading defence innovation hub in Europe. The initiative will blend deep Western systemic defence expertise with combat-tested technological agility and effectiveness, accelerating the development of Europe's defence ecosystem and driving the establishment of next-generation defence frameworks."
Michael Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, said: "The emerging threat of low-cost saturation attacks on European airspace using drones and other weapons demands technological agility, multinational interoperability, and the deployment of combat-validated capabilities. The alliance with SkyFall bridges the gap between conventional defence systems and rapid iterative innovation. Combining Airbus's expertise in system-of-systems integration and command and control (C2) — particularly in Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) — with Ukraine's irreplaceable operational insights and in-field validated technology is another critical building block in creating a resilient, multilayered air defence ecosystem at the speed of the modern battlefield."
SkyFall's Combat Record
SkyFall CEO Mykola Makovieiev stated: "SkyFall's interception systems have successfully neutralised more than 10,000 Russian drones in combat environments, validating the effectiveness of Ukrainian solutions against aerial threats. By joining forces with Airbus, we will jointly develop next-generation technologies, establish a multilayered air protection shield, and strengthen the defence of both Ukrainian and European airspace."
The collaboration marks a significant milestone in integrating real-world combat experience into European defence industry development, and underscores the growing international recognition of Ukrainian defence technology.
