Russia's Rostec Unveils 'Mnogotochie' Anti-Drone Ammunition Series
Russian defense conglomerate Rostec has introduced a new line of anti-drone ammunition called 'Mnogotochie' (Ellipsis), featuring a triple-stacked bronze-alloy projectile compatible with standard rifle calibers. The 5.45x39mm variant offers an effective range of 150 meters, while the 7.62x54mm version reaches 300 meters. The ammunition has entered mass production, though development and optimization are ongoing.

Highlights
Russia's Rostec Unveils 'Mnogotochie' Anti-Drone Ammunition Series
Russian defense industry conglomerate Rostec has officially announced a new series of ammunition specifically designed to counter drones, unveiled via a promotional video. The series is named 'Mnogotochie' — Russian for 'Ellipsis.'
Triple-Stacked Projectile: Stability Meets Spread
The Mnogotochie projectile consists of three stacked components made from a specialized bronze-like alloy. According to a report by RT, the developers stated: "The rotational flight imparts sufficient stability to the projectile, making it compatible with muzzle brakes — something conventional shotgun rounds cannot achieve — while the moderate spread pattern increases the probability of hitting and disabling small FPV drones."
Two Calibers, Double the Range
According to the manufacturer — a Russian precision firearms maker with expertise in specialty ammunition — the two variants offer the following effective ranges:
- 5.45x39mm: effective range of 150 meters
- 7.62x54mm: effective range of 300 meters (twice that of the smaller caliber)
The promotional video demonstrates both calibers being fired in single and burst modes against stationary and moving targets, showing high penetration capability and consistent spread patterns. Test data indicate that within 100 meters, the Mnogotochie rounds can reliably penetrate a composite barrier consisting of 25mm of wooden board backed by 0.8mm of steel plate.
Mass Production Underway, Further Development Continues
Rostec confirmed that the Mnogotochie series has entered full-scale mass production, though it remains classified as being in an active development phase, with further performance upgrades anticipated.
The introduction of this ammunition reflects Russia's growing operational demand for low-cost, rifle-compatible countermeasures against the proliferation of small FPV drones on the modern battlefield.
