- Vertical Aerospace signed a long-term agreement with Astronics Corporation to supply the low-voltage power distribution system for its Valo eVTOL aircraft.
- The Astronics LV system converts high-voltage propulsion power into lower voltages for avionics, flight controls, and other critical onboard systems.
- Astronics hardware is already integrated into Vertical Aerospace's crewed Valo flight test vehicle, having supported the program since the prototype stage.
- Vertical Aerospace is advancing toward a Critical Design Review (CDR) to establish a certified design baseline ahead of airworthiness certification.
- Valo's confirmed supplier base includes Honeywell, Aciturri, Evolito, Hyundai WIA, Syensqo, and Isoclima, covering major aircraft subsystems.
Astronics Wins Long-Term Supply Contract for Vertical Aerospace Valo eVTOL Low-Voltage Power System
Vertical Aerospace has announced a long-term agreement with Astronics Corporation to supply the low-voltage (LV) power distribution system for its Valo electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
System Function and Technical Role
Under the agreement, Astronics will provide the Valo's LV power distribution system, comprising power conversion and distribution hardware responsible for managing and protecting the electrical supply to the aircraft's critical systems. The core function of the system is to convert high-voltage power generated by the aircraft's propulsion architecture into the lower voltages required by avionics, flight control systems, and other essential onboard systems.
In its announcement, Vertical Aerospace stated: "Astronics has supported us since the prototype stage of the aircraft's development, and their hardware is already integrated into Vertical's crewed flight test vehicle."
Valo's Growing Supplier Ecosystem
The roster of key onboard system suppliers for the Valo continues to attract major international players. Confirmed suppliers to date include:
- Honeywell – Flight control and vehicle management systems
- Aciturri – Airframe structure
- Evolito – Electric propulsion units
- Hyundai WIA – Landing gear
- Syensqo – Composite materials
- Isoclima – Transparencies (windows)
Advancing Toward Critical Design Review
Vertical Aerospace noted that this supplier announcement reflects continued progress on the Valo program. The company is currently working toward a Critical Design Review (CDR), which will establish a certified design baseline and prepare the aircraft for subsequent production and testing in line with airworthiness certification requirements.
With steady advances in supply chain development and technical validation, Vertical Aerospace is steadily strengthening its competitive position in the eVTOL market.
