U.S. artificial intelligence company Palladyne AI and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have announced a strategic partnership under which Palladyne AI will be responsible for domestic manufacturing, systems integration, and marketing of IAI's loitering munition systems to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
Three Loitering Munition Systems
The partnership covers three of IAI's well-known loitering munition systems:
- HARPY: An anti-radiation loitering munition developed by Israel, designed specifically to suppress enemy air defense radar systems. It can autonomously seek out and strike radar emission sources.
- HAROP: An advanced evolution of the HARPY, equipped with electro-optical sensors that enable a broader range of strike missions and support man-in-the-loop control modes.
- Mini HARPY: A smaller, more lightweight variant that combines both anti-radiation and electro-optical guidance capabilities, making it suitable for more agile tactical applications.
