Quantum Systems Selected for Japan's Counter-UAS Programme and EU-Ukraine Drone Alliance
German drone manufacturer Quantum Systems has achieved significant international defence milestones, securing simultaneous roles in Japan's counter-UAS (C-UAS) proof-of-concept programme and the newly formed EU-Ukraine Drone Alliance.
Selected for Japan's ATLA Counter-UAS Programme
Quantum Systems has been chosen by Japan's Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) to participate in the country's Counter-UAS proof-of-concept programme.
The programme falls under ATLA's Early Acquisition Programme, designed to accelerate the evaluation and deployment of next-generation interceptor drone capabilities to strengthen the Japan Self-Defense Forces' counter-drone operational effectiveness. Notably, Terra Drone also announced its selection for the same programme.
Founding Member of the EU-Ukraine Drone Alliance
Quantum Systems has also been selected by the European Commission as a founding member of the newly established EU-Ukraine Drone Alliance, in support of the Drone Deal initiative.
The alliance agreement was reached during the 3rd EU-Ukraine Defence Industry Forum held in Kyiv, with the goal of accelerating the development of a robust European drone and counter-drone technology ecosystem.
Quantum Systems stated that as a founding member, the company will "help translate Ukraine's frontline experience into scalable industrial capacity and next-generation European defence technologies, strengthening Europe's ability to respond to rapidly evolving security threats."
Industry Context
As drones play an increasingly decisive role on the modern battlefield, government demand for counter-UAS technology has surged sharply. Quantum Systems' simultaneous entry into both the Asian and European defence markets signals broad recognition of its technical capabilities among major democratic nations, and reflects the global counter-UAS market entering a phase of rapid expansion.
