Urban-Air Port and Sarla Aviation Partner to Shape India's AAM Market

UK-based vertiport developer Urban-Air Port (UAP) and Indian eVTOL startup Sarla Aviation have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), committing to collaborate on the development of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) projects across India.

India Positioned as One of the World's Most Important Emerging AAM Markets

In a joint press release, the two companies stated: "India is at an inflection point to become one of the most significant AAM markets in the world. Yet a thriving ecosystem cannot be built on aircraft alone — it requires infrastructure, operations, and a regulatory framework to enable safe, scalable commercial air services, encompassing vertiports, charging facilities, passenger ground handling, and airspace integration."

UAP Brings Real-World Experience from the World's First AAM Demonstration Hub

UAP was the team behind 'Air One' in Coventry, UK — the world's first fully operational AAM hub demonstration facility — which successfully integrated aircraft operations, charging infrastructure, passenger ground handling, and regulatory engagement in a real urban environment. UAP has also accumulated extensive hands-on experience through partnerships with leading global aerospace and mobility players, including Honda, Supernal, and Airbus.

Phased Urban Deployment Integrating the Shunya eVTOL Platform

Under the agreement, the two parties will combine UAP's rapidly deployable vertiport infrastructure and operational expertise with Sarla Aviation's Shunya eVTOL platform to develop the infrastructure, operational frameworks, and deployment strategies required for commercial AAM rollout.

Key areas of collaboration include:

• Integrating UAP's vertiport infrastructure with the Shunya aircraft platform
• Developing a phased vertiport deployment roadmap covering multiple cities across India
• Engaging with India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to help advance future commercial vertiport operations in the country

Building a Complete AAM Ecosystem in India

As the global eVTOL and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) market accelerates, India is drawing increasing international attention from the AAM industry, driven by its vast population and rapidly growing urbanisation. The UAP–Sarla Aviation partnership is seen as a significant step toward translating India's AAM ecosystem from concept into commercial reality.
