DJI Mic Mini 2S Launches in China with On-Board Recording and Four-Transmitter Support
DJI officially unveiled the Mic Mini 2S wireless microphone on July 2, featuring 14.5GB of on-board storage, 32-bit float recording, and support for up to four transmitters paired to a single receiver with four-track output. The product has launched in China starting at CNY 629 (approx. USD 88) for the basic one-to-one kit, while pricing and release dates for other regions remain unannounced.

Highlights
- DJI launched the Mic Mini 2S on July 2, 2025, with China pricing starting at CNY 629 (approx. USD 88) for the basic one-to-one kit.
- The transmitter features 14.5GB on-board storage supporting 32-bit float recording, providing up to 28 hours of looped audio at the default 24-bit setting.
- Up to four transmitters can be paired simultaneously to a single receiver, with mono, stereo, or four-track output — double the channel count of the Mic Mini 2.
- Each transmitter weighs 12 grams, offers approximately 11 hours of battery life, and supports file transfer speeds up to 34 MB/s via the charging case.
- U.S. pricing and a release date have not been announced; DJI has followed a China-first launch model for multiple hardware products over the past year.
DJI Mic Mini 2S Launches in China with On-Board Recording and Four-Transmitter Support
DJI officially unveiled the Mic Mini 2S wireless microphone on July 2. The compact clip-on mic's headline upgrade is that the transmitter itself can now record audio independently. The Mic Mini 2S features 14.5GB of on-board storage, supports 32-bit float recording, and can pair up to four transmitters simultaneously to a single receiver.
The product has launched first in China; pricing and release dates for other regions have not yet been announced. For users who have followed DJI's product-line strategy closely, the Mic Mini 2S effectively brings the core features that previously required an upgrade to the DJI Mic 3 down into the Mini series.

On-Board Recording Turns the Mic Mini 2S Into Its Own Backup Device
The Mic Mini 2S transmitter can record audio directly in 32-bit float format to its 14.5GB internal storage. This means that even if the wireless signal drops or becomes unstable during a recording session, the transmitter retains a complete local backup of the audio.
At the default 24-bit setting, the storage accommodates up to 28 hours of looped recording. The real value of 32-bit float lies in its extremely wide dynamic range — sudden shouts or barely audible whispers can both be recovered in post-production without clipping or noise floor concerns.
In practice, this means users no longer need to monitor input levels obsessively on set; gain balancing can be handled entirely in post. For a microphone at this price point, that represents a fundamentally different workflow.

Four Transmitters and Four-Track Output Go Well Beyond the Mic Mini 2
The Mic Mini 2S can pair up to four transmitters to a single receiver and supports mono, stereo, or four-track output. Each speaker records to a discrete track, allowing individual level adjustments in post without relying on a pre-mixed composite — ideal for roundtable discussions or dual-presenter interviews.

Compared to the previous Mic Mini 2, which supported only two-channel recording, this upgrade represents a meaningful step forward for users who need to capture multiple speakers simultaneously. Dual-host podcasts, or event coverage requiring separate capture of ambient sound and presenter audio, are precisely the use cases DJI is targeting with the fourth transmitter slot and four-track output.
Wireless range extends up to 400 meters (line-of-sight conditions). Battery life is approximately 11 hours per transmitter and 10 hours for the receiver; with the charging case, total system endurance extends to approximately 40 hours.
Each transmitter weighs just 12 grams — 1 gram more than the Mic Mini 2 — which is virtually imperceptible when clipped to a collar. File transfer speeds from the charging case reach up to 34 MB/s, enabling fast offloading even from extended recording sessions.
Noise reduction operates in two modes: a mild mode for indoor reverb and low-frequency HVAC noise, and a strong mode for suppressing wind and traffic noise in outdoor environments. These capabilities were previously a key reason to choose the Mic 3; they are now integrated into DJI's smallest and most affordable microphone body.

China Launch Confirmed; U.S. Release Date Unannounced
The Mic Mini 2S is now on sale in China. The complete kit with charging case is priced at CNY 1,199 (approx. USD 165), the basic one-to-one kit at CNY 629 (approx. USD 88), and a single transmitter at CNY 399 (approx. USD 56). DJI has not announced U.S. pricing or a release date.
The microphone pairs natively with smartphones via Bluetooth and connects directly to DJI's own camera ecosystem, including the Osmo Pocket 4 and Osmo Action 6 — making ecosystem integration an obvious selling point for existing DJI users.
Availability, however, remains a practical concern. Over the past year, DJI has repeatedly followed a China-first launch model with delayed international announcements. U.S. creators have grown accustomed to waiting for an official DJI announcement before assuming a firm local release timeline.
The product is confirmed to be in production and shipping. When U.S. buyers will be able to purchase it at a confirmed price remains the open question DJI has yet to answer.
DroneXL's Take
DroneXL previewed the July 2 announcement on June 26 when DJI published the launch date, and the final reveal matched expectations precisely — which itself illustrates a point: DJI has turned its feature-trickle-down strategy into a highly predictable cadence.
On-board recording and 32-bit float were reasons to buy up the product line a year ago. Today they ship in DJI's smallest, most affordable microphone, while higher-tier products gain new differentiators to maintain their positioning. The cycle keeps working because the underlying hardware quality is genuinely solid.
The one question July 2 left unanswered is when — or whether — U.S. buyers will be able to purchase the Mic Mini 2S at an official price. Until DJI announces U.S. availability, the China pricing is a preview, nothing more.
