Electra and UrbanV-Signature Aviation Sign MOU to Build Regional Air Mobility Ecosystem
Electra has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the UrbanV-Signature Aviation infrastructure platform to develop a 'Direct Aviation' regional mobility model. The partnership aims to create a distributed network of ultra-short-haul access points enabling point-to-point air travel across communities, targeting a U.S. market of over 35 million daily regional trips.

Highlights
- Electra signed an MOU with the UrbanV-Signature Aviation infrastructure platform to co-develop a regional air mobility ecosystem called 'Direct Aviation'.
- The UrbanV-Signature Aviation platform combines UrbanV's vertiport development and operations expertise with Signature Aviation's global private aviation terminal network.
- The partnership will build a distributed network of ultra short-haul connection nodes embedded in communities, destinations, and transportation corridors.
- Electra's Direct Aviation Market Outlook report identifies over 35 million daily regional trips and more than 6,000 high-demand routes in the U.S. that commercial aviation currently fails to serve.
- Under the MOU, parties will advance from site identification to binding site-specific term agreements to operationalize the Direct Aviation model.
Electra and UrbanV-Signature Aviation Partner to Build Regional Air Mobility Ecosystem
Electra and the UrbanV-Signature Aviation infrastructure platform have announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The UrbanV-Signature Aviation platform combines UrbanV's end-to-end vertiport development and operations capabilities with Signature Aviation's extensive global private aviation terminal network.
In a joint statement, the three parties said: "This collaboration will lay the foundation for a new regional mobility ecosystem, connecting people and communities in a fundamentally different way by enabling direct, point-to-point air travel that breaks free from the constraints of traditional aviation."
What Is 'Direct Aviation'?
This new travel model — referred to as 'Direct Aviation' — integrates aircraft, infrastructure, and operations into a coordinated system designed to enable seamless travel between communities. According to the announcement, the partnership will focus on three core elements:
- Establishing small, strategically located public air access points
- Creating a distributed network of 'ultra short-haul' connection nodes
- Embedding those nodes within existing communities, destinations, and transportation corridors
Executive Highlights Market Gap
Diana Siegel, Vice President of Commercial Strategy at Electra, said: "Direct Aviation is about giving people the freedom to travel from where they are to where they want to go, without being constrained by traditional aviation models. Electra's Direct Aviation Market Outlook report shows that tens of millions of regional trips are made every day — distances where driving is inefficient and commercial aviation is often impractical. This collaboration is a key milestone in bringing together the infrastructure, operational expertise, and global footprint needed to make regional mobility faster, simpler, and more accessible."
MOU Scope
Under the MOU, the parties will jointly identify and develop ultra short-haul connection nodes along key demand corridors, and advance toward site-specific term agreements to operationalize deployment of this new mobility model.
Market Scale: Over 35 Million Daily Regional Trips in the U.S.
Electra's newly published Direct Aviation Market Outlook report highlights that the United States sees more than 35 million regional passenger trips per day, with over 6,000 routes each carrying more than 1,000 passengers daily — a vast pool of demand that existing commercial aviation services largely fail to serve.
