EOS Signs $124M UAE Anti-Drone Contract and Plans High-Energy Laser Weapon Joint Venture
Australian defence technology company EOS has announced a $124 million USD order to supply its Slinger anti-drone Remote Weapon System (RWS) to Generation 5 Holding L.L.C (Gen5), a 100% UAE-owned provider of defence equipment, technology, and services headquartered in Abu Dhabi.
Order Details
The order covers remote weapon systems, artillery, spare parts, training programmes, and other associated supplies. EOS stated that the systems are intended to bolster regional defence capabilities amid ongoing tensions across the Middle East.
The Slinger anti-drone systems are expected to be manufactured in both Australia and the UAE, with delivery scheduled for completion between 2027 and 2028. The order remains subject to Gen5's customary terms and conditions, as well as relevant export approval requirements.
Strengthening the Strategic Partnership
The order further cements the existing relationship between EOS and Gen5. As early as 20 May 2026, EOS announced that Gen5 had committed to subscribing for AUD $30 million worth of fully paid ordinary shares via a strategic placement. That subscription is subject to shareholder approval at EOS's Extraordinary General Meeting scheduled for Friday, 26 June 2026, in accordance with ASX Listing Rule 7.1.
High-Energy Laser Weapon Joint Venture
EOS and Gen5 have also entered into a legally binding conditional joint venture shareholders' agreement to establish a joint venture company with the following scope:
- Development, manufacture, and global distribution of next-generation 200–300 kilowatt (kW) High-Energy Laser Weapons (HELW)
- Manufacture and distribution of EOS's existing 100–150 kW HELW in the UAE (including under the UAE–Korean Offset Program) and in select Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries
- Manufacture and distribution of EOS's existing RWS products — including the R400, R500, and R800 models — in the UAE and select MENA countries
Joint Venture Structure
The joint venture is expected to be incorporated in Abu Dhabi, with Gen5 and EOS each holding a 50% stake and sharing profits on an equal basis, subject to UAE regulations and government approvals.
