EOS Wins $124M Anti-Drone Order, Partners with UAE's Gen5 on High-Energy Laser Weapons
Australian defence technology company EOS has announced a $124 million order to supply its Slinger anti-drone remote weapon system (RWS) to Generation 5 Holding L.L.C (Gen5), a 100%-UAE-owned provider of defence equipment, technology, and services headquartered in Abu Dhabi.
Order Scope and Delivery Schedule
The order covers remote weapon system units, artillery, spare parts, training, and other associated materiel. EOS stated that the systems are intended to strengthen the UAE's defensive capabilities in response to the ongoing security tensions across the Middle East.
Production of the Slinger anti-drone system will be split between Australia and the UAE, with deliveries scheduled in batches between 2027 and 2028. The order is subject to Gen5's standard commercial terms and the receipt of relevant export licences.
Deepening Strategic Partnership
This order further consolidates the relationship between EOS and Gen5. The two parties had previously announced on 20 May 2026 that Gen5 committed to subscribing for AUD 30 million in fully paid ordinary shares under EOS's strategic placement. That subscription remains subject to shareholder approval at an EOS Extraordinary General Meeting scheduled for Friday, 26 June 2026, under ASX Listing Rule 7.1.
Joint Venture to Develop High-Energy Laser Weapons
Beyond the anti-drone order, EOS and Gen5 have signed a binding, conditional joint venture shareholders' agreement to establish a joint venture company in Abu Dhabi to pursue the following activities:
- Development and manufacture of next-generation 200–300 kW high-energy laser weapons (HELW)
- Manufacture and sale of EOS's existing 100–150 kW high-energy laser weapons, covering the UAE domestic market (including the UAE–Korea Offset Programme between the UAE and South Korea) and selected MENA countries
- Manufacture and sale of EOS's existing remote weapon systems, including the R400, R500, and R800 models, for the UAE and selected MENA markets
The joint venture is planned to operate on a 50/50 equity and profit-sharing structure, subject to UAE regulatory requirements and government approvals.
