Defense tech startup Askari Defense has announced the close of a $9 million seed round led by Builders VC. The capital will be used to accelerate development and commercialization of the company's handheld, autonomous drone-interceptor system.
A Lightweight, Fire-and-Forget Counter-UAS Solution
Askari positions its product as a "lightweight, kinetic, fire-and-forget counter-UAS capability that can be deployed against adversarial drones without the need for vehicles, fixed installations, or favorable RF (radio frequency) environments." This emphasis on mobility and rapid deployment directly addresses the growing battlefield demand for agile counter-UAS (C-UAS) systems.
The company has already secured government contracts and completed deliveries, indicating that its technology has passed initial operational validation.

Counter-UAS Market Outlook Remains Strong
As drone threats continue to escalate across conflict zones worldwide, demand for lightweight, portable counter-UAS solutions is growing rapidly. Askari Defense is targeting a critical capability gap left by traditional vehicle-mounted or fixed air defense systems, aiming to give individual soldiers and small units an immediate, on-the-move intercept capability.
