EUROCAE Releases ED-347 Draft Standard for Network Identification Service, Seeks Public Comment
EUROCAE has published a draft of ED-347, a technical standard defining the interface between drone operators and the Network Identification Service, with a public comment deadline of 2 August 2025. The standard addresses one of four mandatory services under EU U-space regulations and aims to promote interoperability across Europe's drone airspace management ecosystem.

Highlights
- EUROCAE published the ED-347 draft technical standard defining the interface between UAS operators and the Network Identification Service, with public comments accepted until 2 August 2025.
- The Network Identification Service is one of four mandatory services under European Commission U-space regulations for UAS operations.
- ED-347 is fully aligned with ASTM F3411-22a and covers protocol specifications, data security requirements, and performance considerations.
- The standard is developed by EUROCAE Working Group 105 (WG-105 UAS SG-3 UTM) and targets USSPs, ANSPs, UAS operators, and national regulators.

EUROCAE Releases ED-347 Draft Standard for Network Identification Service, Seeks Public Comment
The European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) has published a draft of ED-347, formally titled Technical Standard Defining the Interface Between UAS Operators and the Network Identification Service, and is inviting public feedback until 2 August 2025.
Background: A Mandatory U-space Requirement
Under European Commission regulations governing U-space, the Network Identification Service is designated as one of four mandatory services required to support unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operations within U-space airspace.
EUROCAE stated: "The recommended way forward is to develop a technical standard that fully defines the interface between the UAS operator and the Network Identification Service, and that is fully aligned with ASTM F3411-22a within the relevant scope. This technical standard will cover protocol specifications, data security implementation requirements, performance considerations, and supporting technical considerations."
Developed by Working Group 105
The standard is being developed by the EUROCAE Working Group 105 (WG-105) UAS SG-3 UTM subgroup.
Broad Stakeholder Applicability
The technical standard is intended for use not only by manufacturers, but also by a wide range of stakeholders, including:
- U-space Service Providers (USSPs)
- UAS Operators
- Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs)
- National Regulators
All of these parties can use the standard to support implementation and interoperability within the U-space ecosystem. The draft also incorporates considerations, recommendations, and options to accommodate diverse operational and technical deployment needs.
How to Submit Comments
The ED-347 draft is publicly available on the EUROCAE Workspace platform, along with a downloadable feedback form. Non-EUROCAE members can register on the official EUROCAE website and select the "Access only to Open Consultation" option to participate in the public consultation.
