
EU Commission Proposes Five Joint Defence Projects, C-UAS Investment to Reach Up to €5 Billion
The European Commission formally proposed five European Defence Projects of Common Interest (EDPCI) on July 3, 2026, covering drones and counter-drone systems, maritime and seabed defence, space, air and missile defence, and eastern flank security. Counter-UAS (C-UAS) investment is projected to reach €3.5–5 billion by 2033, with €325 million allocated under the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) to support initial deployment.
